The Empire now faces new dangerous threats: Yemen and Nigeria. Since the government necessarily will have to invade and bomb both countries and also apply severe sanctions to harm innocent oldsters, women and children, it surely must be time to start talking about re-instituting the military draft. The Empire needs to control all the governments of the Middle Eastern and African oil producing countries. It must start a new troop surge to control events in Yemen and Nigeria. But it has no troops left to do the job. So the obvious remaining choice is the draft. Clearly we need to protect our freedom from Yemen and Nigeria as well as from Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. No? Where are Charlie Rangel and Jim McDermott when Obama needs them?
